Mastery
Masterchef was crowned last week, The Masters the week before both are easy & useful observations of Mastery at work.
Watching the journey from home cook to Masterchef Champion is always an interesting and enlightening one. If you watch the initial chat & first round with the contestants, you can pick the likely contenders for the final.
How I hear you asking, when they not yet masters of their craft, could that be observed?
Here’s where it gets interesting, the skill level is usually pretty good, although not as yet masterful, what is masterful, is their mindset.
How they understand and process their inner world as well as the outer world. The way they approach the tasks, the language they use to prepare themselves and to review their results, their focus and response to setbacks and challenges and the vision they hold for themselves getting to the next stage in the competition. Often the ones that have talent although are not masters of their inner world falter and then fall during the competition.
Practice for this week … Begin with something you know you can do. Then stretch it (within reach) each day. Observe and celebrate your journey along the way, keep practising.
